NearMap Pty Ltd is an innovative PhotoMap and location based media company that ipernica acquired on 21 November 2008.

NearMap creates very high resolution PhotoMaps with multiple angle views at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions. Its breakthrough technology enables PhotoMaps to be updated much more frequently than other providers (such as Google Earth), which can be many months out of date. As a result, for the first time people will be able to see the mapped environment change over time, as NearMap's online PhotoMaps allow users to move back and forward month by month to see changes occur, such as the construction of a home or development of a new road.

Matteo Mining
Matteo Mining is a company formed to commercialise intellectual property relating to a new system and equipment for mining coal underground, developed by experienced coal industry executive Matthew Lumb.

Globally, coal deposits are exploited by both surface and underground mining systems. Half a century ago as much as 96 percent of coal produced annually was sourced from underground operations. Today approximately 60 percent of global resources are exploited from surface operations. The coal mining industry is currently enjoying a period of step - change innovation in both extraction and processing technologies. Mr Lumb has developed a new system for extracting underground coal using an adaptation of an existing surface mining system known as 'high wall mining'. The system extracts a larger volume of coal from unsupported drives and minimises the number and extent of roadways required to be constructed to support the mining equipment, access and extraction of mined coal.

On 12 February 2009, ipernica took a  6.87% shareholding in Matteo Mining.

Dimerix Bioscience

Dimerix is a specialist drug discovery company commercialising a technology developed at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR) and the University of Western Australia, that addresses a new drug target - complexes or clusters of G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCR).

Dimerix was established in December 2004 and initial financing was secured in 2005 through a joint venture with Starpharma Limited (ASX:SPL) and investment from Perth-based venture capital companies Foundation Capital and Murdoch Westscheme Enterprise Partnership (MWEP).

In December 2006, Dimerix acquired the rights to the GPCR-HIT assay, providing it with a robust technology for GPCR heterodimer identification. This was followed by a further investment from Foundation Capital and Stone Ridge Ventures in June 2007.

Inference Communications Pty Ltd is a specialist speech recognition technology and solutions company. Inference's unique competitive advantage is derived from its core technology which is the result of many years research into AI (artificial intelligence), conducted by the Telstra Research Laboratories, and applied to the area of speaker independent speech recognition.

Inference has exploited this technical advantage to generate a suite of configurable, pre-packaged, natural language speech recognition solutions. These solutions are available out of the box for implementation as premise based solutions, or with our hosting partners, as fully hosted services.

In addition, Inference makes its technology available to the market in the form of development environments. Those development tools are currently used by customers globally to develop their own sophisticated, natural language speech solutions. Those customers are not only able to develop sophisticated solutions without the need for specialist resources, but they also develop and maintain those solutions in significantly less time than has previously been possible using other techniques.

iCeutica is developing a pipeline of pharmaceutical products which utilise its proprietary nano-sizing technology known as SoluMatrix.

iCeutica's technology provides a low cost and scalable solution to extend the life cycle of blockbuster drugs, as well as to become a cornerstone drug delivery technique for new chemical entities. iCeutica continues to progress very well, having recently achieved the milestones of completing 3 clinical trials using its reformulations, all of which demonstrated superior clinical benefits over the comparator product. The Company recently entered into a partnership with one of the world's 5 largest pharmaceutical companies to reformulate 3 products and is in discussions with 2 other large pharma companies. iCeutica is already generating revenue from licensing and milestones with its partners and will progress to commercial manufacture of products in the coming 18 months.
